We were at the Madlax Capital Classic this weekend. 10-15% of parents were wearing masks. The teenager taking forehead temps on the way onto the field was not wearing a mask.
Hey, it was outside and 98 degrees. Bigger issue was all the folks stacked together in the woods, taking in shade.
Irrelevant - rules was grownups were to wear masks 100% of time outside of car. If you didn’t follow the rule, you are a douche. M&D parents, belonging to the organizer’s own club, didn’t wear masks. Many other clubs’ parents did. The parents who didn’t are either dumbasses or think they are special and rules don’t apply to them. Take your pick. Not a good reflection on Chris or M&D.
+1000 Noticed a bunch of M&D dads and players from one of their MS teams at Mid-Atlantic doing this...despite the numerous emails reminding attendees of the rules, this crew basically tailgated in the parking lot without masks. Terrible look.
The rule was masks when social distancing isn’t possible. I was there. Social distancing was plenty possible.
This is absolutely untrue that is not what the rules were at the tournament.. The rules for the MidAtlantic Summer Championship tournament were very specific and very clearly written. Masks were required at all time for adults and for players except when they were on the field playing. In addition they wanted everyone to stay socially distant, not instead of. I can list the rules for the tournament if you like it give you a link. You are either a liar or didn’t bother to read the many emails the tournament organizers sent out to parents with the rules. The M&D parents, as well as others, were on the sidelines and walking around the fields and parking lot with no masks on or even in sight. It was obnoxious.
Here is what was and is posted on the website: In consideration for participation in the July 18-19, 2020 MidAtlantic Summer Club Championships, Robinson Sports is requiring complete compliance with new COVID protocols and formats. Although this summer’s event may be a somewhat different experience than prior years, providing the athletes an opportunity to return to the game they love in a safe environment is paramount. Keeping the athletes the priority will allow everyone at the event to engage in a level of mutual respect. We appreciate your patience and understanding greatly in this endeavor. COVID Specific Event Format Event Attendee Requirements: • Each player will be permitted to have only one family member at the field during their game. This allows for social distancing on the spectator sidelines, which is required. • No outside spectators other than event staff and a player’s one family member are permitted at the facility. • It is recommended that all event attendees wear facemasks to and from vehicles and while watching games. Athletes will not be required to wear facemasks during games. In times where social distancing is not possible, all attendees are required to wear a mask. Attendees are required to bring a facemask with them to the facility for this purpose. • It is recommended that coaches, athletes, spectators and staff maintain social distancing at all times, with the exception being when an athlete is on the field playing in a game. • Athletes and spectators may not touch a game ball with their hands, but must instead use their stick. • Opposing teams are prohibited from post-game handshakes or crossing paths on the field after a game. • No team tents will be permitted at the facility. No tailgating or congregating of teams will be permitted in parking lots. Teams may bring a tent to use on the sidelines during games only. • Parents, players and coaches should return to their vehicles during the time between the end of their game and warm ups for their next game. • An additional COVID waiver must be signed by any coach and by the parent/guardian of the player attending the event. Links to the personal online standard waiver and the COVID waiver are emailed daily to the email addresses on the team roster as entered by club directors. o The waiver will include requirements for players, coaches and family spectators to take their temperatures within two hours prior to entering the facility. It also includes requirements for players, coaches and family spectators to check for any COVID symptoms prior to entering the facility. Any person with an elevated temperature or exhibiting any of the COVID symptoms is NOT permitted to enter the facility, even if this means loss of opportunity to play in or view/games. Any person who has recently been exposed to someone confirmed to have COVID or exhibiting COVID symptoms within the 14 days prior to the event is NOT permitted to enter the facility, even if this means loss of opportunity to play in or view games. o Any person at the event who begins to exhibit COVID symptoms or an elevated temperature while at the facility must notify the main tent immediately and exit the facility. o Any person who is in a high-risk category as determined by the CDC, whether due to age or pre-existing condition, is strongly discouraged from attending the event. • Best practices in regard to frequent handwashing/disinfecting and not touching one’s face or others are required by all at the event.
