EDP just had a tournament over the weekend as well as the next two weekends in New Jersey with teams from other states. NJ is a lot worse off than Virginia. and Maryland. Turnout was low however. Good on them for at least giving it a shot. Hoping the negativity here is not the majority and rather the minority.[/quote]

No, general attitude and lack of respect for the virus is what is causing the outbreaks. People being unwilling to curb their daily routines for common good. Pick your social outlet but keep it within a bubble. Going to restaurants, bars, beaches etc. are expanding risk and exposure.

Keep your bubbles tighter, which can include the soccer team. Wear a mask when out. Limit social interactions outside of your bubble and we'll be fine. Whoever you get exposed to you also expose your team. If you want soccer then consider your soccer team part of your family and don't put hem at risk.

If people abide by this we can have a season that is limited to local games. Overnight tournaments or league games just have to be off the table for the fall.

All it takes is one team to travel out of town for a tournament to shut down their team league schedule. The other teams may get to keep playing but your team might have to bow out of the season because you just needed to go to Jeff Cup or something else. [/quote]

Dude, chill out man!!! It’s fine to have an opinion but it doesn’t mean you are right. Baseball and Basketball tournaments have been going on with little problems. Are you the type of person that complains to the Tournament Director because of your opinion? Are you an Epidemiologist and have vast knowledge of how Children spread the virus? I didn't realize my post was so aggressive. You might need to relax. Sorry but the writing is on the wall. Overnight tournaments will not do well and so what? There are lots of tournament options available in the immediate area but don't expect many out of town clubs to come to Bethesda, WAGS etc. Jeff Cup has already pulled the plug on the "Showcase" aspect and changed it to "friendlies". The boys side is pretty much scrapped. Why? Because teams are not willing to get on planes or stay in hotels right now.

So, all this means is that soccer will just look more regional with tourneys. What is the problem with that?

I think part of the outbreaks stem from people who are really sick of being told what to do. Government is bad enough. Hearing it from other citizens from their lofty perches or plastic bubbles is just plain intolerable. Is their response rational?  Hell no. But you can expect more of this in direct proportion to your screeching. Get used to it. [/quote]
