Obviously I do not want to be sick or have a family member get sick, but this may be our new life. We are a very entitled society who expect medical experts to fix everything. I hope a vaccine occurs but can't wait to read how no one wants to get the vaccine because of possible unknown side effects. I would expect cases to increase once we open and have more testing available. Not sure why everyone thinks we could just get rid of it.

Medicine has done a great job at extending our lifespans but it really can't fix everything. I do not feel confident a proven vaccine will be available soon. I am more hoping that treatments become available and the virus mutates so it is not as deadly. I am also one of those people that believes it is much more widespread than we think which makes death rate lower. This is one of the few diseases we now are testing asympomatic cases 'just to to see'. I know some surgeons do blood work before procedures to check for hepatitis, HIV, diabetes, etc  we don't usually just test people to see if they have a flu virus or cold virus with no symptoms. I had a surgery last year and no blood work was done at all. I am in my late 40s and haven't had blood work done in five years. I do think I need to get things checked and was surprised it wasn't ordered. I had general. I consider myself healthy but who knows...I think I need to go get some blood work done now:)[/quote]

I understand flatting the curve and remember him talking about the importance of that and how we can't eliminate the virus risk completely, but I do not recall him saying "we are all going to get it." I don't think that is true. He's pretty old: surely he doesn't intend to just buy some time before he gets it, nor does he suggest that for others over 65. I'm 37 and I'd rather not get it, or the flu, and I try my best not to and though it's possible I don't see it as an inevitability. Did he actually say that, or are you interpreting?[/quote]
