Like it or not, cases like Smollett and this guy at UMD make people skeptical (rightfully) whenever these types of vandalism cases come up. It plants a seed of questioning in their minds. So, yes it does matte WHO did it if you want to prosecute it as a hate crime. Otherwise, it is just vandalism.[/quote]
