Because symbols really matter throughout human history. Why do Christians identify themselves with a cross, Jews with a Star of David, or Muslim with the star and crescent? Why does the American flag carry so much emotional weight and significance? If symbols didn’t matter than no one would have cared about Kapernick taking a knee!

Symbolism is extremely important in human history. To pretend it isn’t is laughable. Symbols represent human organization toward a goal.[/quote]
