Nanny: Our one big step out of the bubble was hiring a nanny. We've been really conservative up until this point, but there was just no way to care for a baby and keep our jobs. She's smart about social distancing and drives to us. Work: Will continue to work remote through at least the end of the year. Grateful to have the option. Travel: Have a mountain house with pool booked for later this summer. Will be empty a few days before we arrive and will wipe down major surfaces. Close enough to not stop. No flights for us. Sadly family is all too far away to see. It's hard not knowing when we will be able to, especially older relatives. Hair: Have a hair appointment for end of June and undecided on keeping. If I do, it will be to switch color to something that doesn't need upkeep through fall and winter. Food: Will continue takeout only and grocery delivery. Have not been in a store since March and ok with that. The one thing I'd love to figure out is takeout on the go. I'd love to sip a coffee on a walk or sit in a park and eat. The whole mask and sanitizing thing is tricky. Friends: The one thing I really feel like I need to stay sane is seeing friends in-person. So over Zoom. Trying to find the safest way to do that as some of them are more "open" than we are. (going to jobs, older kids with playdates, etc.) Maybe backyard far apart without masks? Park meetup with masks? I'm just not sure how to navigate this.
If you live in the DMV area, do you mind sharing where this is?
It's near the Swift Run Gap entrance to Skyline Drive. It's booked up for the rest of the summer now, but we had luck searching VRBO for properties with private pool. The owner was willing to do a liberal cancelation policy due to COVID.
