Asymptomatic spread is possible but much less probable than if he were showing symptoms. There is also the concept related to viral load, meaning the people who are getting sicker are people who are exposed to a lot more of it. As was previously mentioned, this is contagious but it is not as contagious as other things. We also don't know almost there lots of snuggling for example/close contacts/sharing a beverage or people were staying a little further apart.
