pay to play is under threat for sure
so you want it to be free? Can you share some ideas on how that would work and what that league would look like? or share whatever you envision? Thanks
Back when the US could actually compete in the World Cup, the core of the team did not come from fancy, high-price travel leagues but kids coached by parents, streetball and HS. Quote of the movie: "There were no soccer moms driving you around." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=havPy5C2XIU
Do you actually think this would work? I mean honestly. Hoe many times did you personally or some of your closer friends with kids take their kids to free pick up around the area last year? I'm area free, advertised pick up alot and usually there are maybe 6-8 kids there. How much do you see kids playing in the street last year on their own? When was the last time you heard of a kid riding their bike a few miles to join in a pick up game? Your idea is great, but it's just not practical whatsoever. I wish it was, but it's not. It's fantasy land.
Need to get rid of the pay to play non-sense. Money is corrupting the sport. Street ball is where the best develop their craft. Practicing under a paid coach at Bethesda has done little to help progress soccer in this country.
