They'd need to talk to an attorney.[/quote] No, this is exactly true. U.S. citizenship is a relationship between the U.S. and a person born within its boundaries. It is not affected by any other citizenship claims, or any dual citizenship (which I see some of you confuse with multiple citizenships). U.S. citizenship is not renounceable by parents on behalf of a minor; if paperwork exists to that effect, the U.S. will not recognize it, and all that child will have to do when they reach 18 is contact a U.S. embassy anywhere in the world with proof of birth within the U.S., and they will be issued a U.S. passport. The only thing that nullifies a U.S. citizenship is an act of renunciation, which can only be done by an adult person on their own behalf. [/quote]
