The issue is that there are better formats and platforms. If the league had the same caliber of talent across the league, it would not be an issue but you basically have elite teams playing glorified classic/select teams. Given the disparity, why drive from Ellicot City to the Tidewater to either get crushed by a superior team or to trounce an inferior team. Ellicott City is driving past Baltimore Union, Pipeline, SAC and 20+ other clubs before it even gets to Fredericksburg. Such a situation makes sense if you are an elite club team and want to make that sort of investment but if not, it is a huge commitment. EDP and NCSL are tiered. EDP does have a club v club but that is losing interest since elite clubs aren't fielding their best teams in EDP. I know you will continue to lose players to better options.
Club v club is a problem, not a solution, even for "elite clubs." The whole premise is that elite club means elite team, and we see this to be demonstrably false again and again.
Find the club that aligns with your ideals. That is the only answer. Ranting on a board will have zero impact on CCL, your leaving for a club that offers what YOU want for YOUR kid will improve your experience. The problem is you believe that the shortcomings that you perceive are both universally shared and universally valued and correct. Not everyone sees it the same way that you do and they are under no obligation to do so. So, do what is best for you and those who agree will do the same all on their own.
Thank you for not following your own advice and telling us all about the way the world is (though others may disagree with your values and perspective). I have no illusions that everybody agrees with my perspective. That is why I opine. I also think that most sheep will continue going straight to the slaughterhouse regardless of what we say. But at the margins, perhaps some may retain open minds and change direction. That presumption is based on experience in persuading people. I am sorry you like preaching only to your choir -- usually it is a sign that you cannot preach outside of it. Enjoy your mediocre soccer.
Sheep going to then slaughter? LOL. it is kids soccer pal. CCL vs EDP at that. Not exactly high stakes here. Some talented teams and players to be sure but nobody is competing for a National Team spot or a full ride at UNC out of these leagues. The teams are pretty interchangeable and if YOU want pro/rel for your kid you can have it.
No kidding, pal. The stakes are ridiculously low. So STFU and move on and stop telling us about universal values. In the mean time, the rest of us will try to excel at whatever we do.
You want an entire league to collapse instead of just changing to a club, team, league that suits your needs. How many years have you been complaining about CCL? How many years have you wasted trying to change the course of a river through a message board when you could have just changed clubs? If you were good at what you do you would get a position on a board, either league or club to implement your youth soccer ideals. The problem isn’t your dream or idea, the problem is you.
