Included in that package deal is executive functioning deficits.  Executive functioning deficits affect not only your academics but everything else.  It is related to emotional regulation.  Emotional regulation is related to impulsivity, our ability to THINK before acting.

ADHD kids get in "trouble" because they may display unacceptable behavior such as not filtering what they say, as a PP had mentioned. When these kids get told all their lives that they are in trouble for whatever emotion that they couldn't regulate, it also creates anxiety because they get punished all the time.  Then when they get into an environment that is less than accepting or is totally uninformed about how all these conditions intertwine,  it can put them in a bad spot.   Mind you, when this is all happening, depression, which is an imbalance of brain chemicals is also probably occurring.

Suicide is a decision. When decision-making skills are impaired due to an inability to to regulate emotion, and an inability to stop and think... yes all related to ADHD.

The stigma attached to these conditions make it difficult for people to get treatment.
