I was told that at least one boys coach told his players that they are joining the MLS league.
Of course a boys coach would say that. Arlington has always done whats best for the boys and those coaches dont give to shits about the girls. The girl parents are not going to let the club roll over them again. Thats the problem when you have a TD that only cares about the boys and his ego.
Nonsense. They don’t need to be bundled. And if they are, you could be screwing over the boys in favor of the girls. Like BRYC, McLean and Loudoun. Go elsewhere if you don’t like it. It’s not like public schools. Pick your private school and move if your kid has talent and interest. Otherwise its youth soccer. That’s it.
They need to be bundled if ECNL only admits Arlington girls if Arlington boys join too. And as a junior girl parent, I see ECNL as the right choice for the girls. More Arlington girls were already in a serious recruiting pipeline with DA that just disappeared, and ECNL is the only proven substitute for that right now. Arlington only had boys DA up to U-15. Not even in HS yet so they aren’t getting as screwed over as the girls would be. I hope ECNL and Arlington do the right thing.
So what? What difference does that make? Bethesda continues to have boys outside ECNL. The point is that bundling is apparently a selective requirement. Sometimes necessary. Sometimes not. Well that just makes ECNL hypocritical and overbearing, not Arlington discriminatory. In any event, the logic applies both ways. If Arlington caves to a ridiculous demand like that (which did not apply to VDA and does not apply to Bethesda), then the better boys should move and play big boy soccer elsewhere in the area.
VDA and Bethesda’s top girls were already in ECNL. All those clubs did was shift the boys from DA to ECNL. Arlington’s girlS were in DA, as were their U13-U15 boys.
