Scenario 1: you marry a guy 5 years older than you. You divorce him when he is 75 because he is old and broken. You are 70.
Scenario 2: you marry a guy 15 years older, divorce him when he is 75 because he is old and broken. You are 60.

Because scenario 1 you are probably not getting divorced and are at the same life stage going through it together.

If a guy is useless to you and decrepit, it hardly matters if you are 60 yourself rather than 70.

And forget the reason for the divorce. Let's say he dies at 75. You are no worse off being widowed at 60 than at 70, and in some ways better off.[/quote]
