OP again. The house is in terrible condition, we’re simply putting lip stick on a pig and every sibling understood this. I’ve already signed a real estate contract including the work to be completed, no going back and of course the other sibling don’t have extra money sitting around. If this house sits for a year I’ll need thousands of dollars more for routine bills including property taxes. Once again, this sibling fully understood what he agreed on. Don’t turn my question into a typical DC Urban thread and blame me, I’ve literally done everything since the death and I’m only asking for honesty.
You made the decision to do renovations at your cost except you don't want to pay for it. Siblings probably felt they had no choice but to agree. You signed the deal, you want it so you pay for it. We bought an estate sale. It was in rough cosmetic shape. I preferred they didn't fix it up and we've slowly fixed it up over the years. You are wasting your money as someone is going to come in and redo things. Our neighbor put in carpeting and painted before her sale and the new owners couldn't have carpeting and repainted most of it. Huge waste of money. For $15-20K you are only getting new paint, carpeting and other basics and really, its not worth your expense and hassle. Price it right and it will sell to someone like us or a flipper.
