I would not have my child attend any parties, and as another parent with 2 kids that have march birthdays, we are simply going to have to postpone parties. I wouldn't want to put other parents in the situation of having their kids around a whole bunch of other kids. Nor would I want my family to increase our chance of getting covid-19 and then transmitting it (even unknowingly). I've got higher risk, so that's a personal concern, but I also have friends that are ER docs and other hospital/medical professionals that are simply worried as heck about an impending surge in cases and a potential tsunami of a crisis like what's happening in other countries that have not practiced social distancing. Out of consideration for the medical professionals in your community, please do your part and observe social distancing more consistently. It's 3 weeks for now, which won't be the end of the world, then we all re-assess. Do you think that coronavirus spreads only if people are constantly hugging and kissing while they are symptomatic? the science is telling us that people are spreading it when they are symptomatic, and that the virus can live on surfaces for many hours. Sure, washing hands is an important preventative measure, but not 100% effective by any means. The best preventative measure is STAYING AWAY FROM OTHER PEOPLE unless absolutely necessary. As another PP said, this is an important opportunity to teach flexibility.
