HHI of 700k but unlike PP we don’t take luxury vacations or have luxury cars.
 then what on earth do you do with all your money?
Dp here. 700k after taxes isn’t as much as you think. We have a higher HHI and we send our 3 kids to public.
Before taxes it is 3x what we make and we live pretty well. not luxury but we travel, do most things we want to do. If I have 3x my salary I would be living it up. If people aren't living well on 700k then they must be terrible with money
What would you have to do to make 3x your income?
be in an entirely different field of work. I don't even really know what professions make this much.
I am the PP that posted we have a 700K income but unlike this PP I don't feel strapped. I am a lawyer - I went to law school on scholarship and am a partner in a mid-size firm. My husband is also a lawyer but an academic and does consulting on the side. We don't even come CLOSE to 90K a year for child care - that number truly boggles my mind.
That pp is the poster child for living it up on a high income and saving little. Pp must have also bought an overpriced house. They seem to overspend on everything minus vacations and cars.
What a weird comment. I specifically note that we are saving for retirement and college, which is part of why we are not “living it up.”
I was referring to the 700k dual lawyer family who still had student loans and car loans on their old non luxury car while paying for private school.
Yes and that’s me!! We save for retirement and college! Obviously! If we didn’t save we would in fact be “living it up.” Also having cars on very low interest car loans is not financially irresponsible.
