We agreed to rent a larger car for road trips if we needed it. We did it once and just rented stuff where we were going other times. Once DC #3 came along, we got the minivan- but in our case the reason was that the kids were too young to get themselves in and out of car seats. Your kids are older and you do not need the 3rd row (are you carpooling on a daily basis?) If you are more specific in what versatility you are looking for, people can be more helpful in recommendations.[/quote]
