My daughter also has an IEP at BFES--I know I'm starting another thread here, but could you elaborate on what you mean by "supported classes"? I would love to know what I need to ask the case managers at Hoover to make sure she's in classes that will help with exactly what you state here--advocate for herself and push her toward independence.
