As a legal matter, they're different, but I think lawyers/legal-minded people need to take off those hats and view the situation from a more emotional/human perspective and consider the case in its context.  Yes, it may be statutory rape, but in a parent's eyes there really is no difference between this type of statutory rape and molestation/child abuse.  A man who is at least (and possibly more) ten years older used his power of authority psychologically manipulated a young person to have sex with him. [/quote]
