Honestly, I get faint lines throughout, but then the surge is super noticeable. if you have a bunch of the cheap ones, I would just test a few times a day through when you typically ovulate. It's such a pain, but that way you'll feel more confident about timing. I am like you, I drink a lot of water, so I have to be really careful to not drink for a couple hours before I test.
