40% of the public support any and all Republican corruption, conspiracy, and self-dealing because they have been conned into believing that they will benefit from their patronage. They don’t get that the self-dealing demagogues think of them as fools who are easily manipulated by appeals to race and religion to give them unconditional support. This part is not new or original to Trump. He is just another in a long history of populist demagogues who manipulate the people they claim to represent but are only in it for themselves and their close conspirators. [/quote]
