The kids did not disappear at the same time.  First Jacob was "dropped off at a play date".  Later that evening or early the next morning, Sarah was "taken to a new daycare".  The oldest child first noticed them missing the next morning.  It's unclear if the kids are together, in one location, or in two different locations.
