That’s on MOCO County Council. Just like when you pay Federal Taxes. The Treasury (IRS) collects the money and Congress distributes to the various agencies.

No, it is not a huge awesome amount. It is a huge liability.  The money only paid to install the artificial turf fields. It does not pay for maintenance, removal or replacement.

Again, see the WJ, RM, Wootton high school artificial turf fields.  Installed and then abandoned.  Those fields must be maintained, removed and replaced out of the MCPS Operating Budget because the whole fantasy artificial turf plan failed.  Rentals did not materialize, rental income did not fund maintenance, removal or replacement.

Creating a liability for the MCPS Operating Budget is not awesome.  It is a continual drain of education funds to an artificial turf field when that money could be used to pay for teachers or give teachers raises.  MSI Soccer is making a choice for how the MCPS Operating Budget will be used. They want money to maintain, clean, remove and replace their field surface, classrooms be damned. [/quote]

Would you rather that MCPS spend their own money instead of taking MSI money to build the turf fields?  MSI is not making a choice. They just paid $2.4M based upon a settlement agreement with MoCo. It’s on MoCo and MCPS to determine if the agreement was advantageous before they agreed and signed on the dotted line.

MCPS middle schools are not in line for two artificial turf fields each or any artificial turf fields.  That's not in the MCPS budget.  MCPS would not have spent money on this project because it is not a priority.  There are 40 MCPS middle schools.  Now there is one middle school with two artificial turf fields creating immediate equity issues.  Is MSI going to fund 78 more artificial turf fields at the rest of the middle schools so they will all have the same fields?

MSI can't use the field for 10 years, it won't last that long.  By 10 years the fields will be out of service and unusable.  These fields do not last that long.  They must be removed and replaced.  That creates a huge liability for the MCPS Operating Budget and permanently diverts education funds from teacher salaries to artificial turf.  MSI parents value artificial turf more than public school teachers.  [/quote]

Are you dumb or just pretending to not understand?  It was MCPS that selected Julius West, not MSI. Go complain to MCPS. There are many other clubs in MoCo as well, not just MSI that uses MCPS turf fields. Google soccer clubs in MoCo and you will know how many clubs there are in our area. And they all rent MCPS grass and turf fields. They also rent MoCo grass fields at parks too. [/quote]
