That depends. On the Common App, you have the option to share the app with the recommending counselor.  For my kid that was a no brainer. He knows, likes and respects his counselor, and has had good communication with her throughout HS and now college admissions (he’s under a 504 and has worked through things like. accommodations and standardized testing.  They sat down together last spring and decided that she would mention his disability and he would not, and the context in which the info would be shared. She is finishing up his recommendation now.  Her having access to his app makes it easy for her to get information about him for the recommendation.  The process seems to be working well because we have a good working relationship with the counselor.  And my kid is not lying about, omitting or embellishing anything. There is nothing there he minds her seeing.

If you don’t choose to share, I’m. It sure what the school sees. But they send a transcript, school profile, counselor rec. amd something else. And my kid had to list all ECs, awards, etc in the packet he filled out for the counselor. [/quote]
