1. The range of costs is huge. PCS: The most being $500 a month (~$5000 a year), the least $165 (~$1650/year). DCPS: Similar range of costs: $425/month (~$4250/year) to ~$95/month ($950/year).
2. All PCSs before care and after care cost more than DCPS. This should be figured into analysis of lottery options if you need this service.

I don't understand why PCS before care and after care isn't subsidized like DCPS is. Can anyone speak to this?

DCPS aftercare is only subsidized in title 1 schools. [/quote]

and even that is not a given. We are at a Title 1 school and its 240/month.  There are some grants but they definitely do not cover all the kids who might need them.[/quote]

Not to mention that aftercare at some Title 1 schools fill up quickly - something to keep in mind if you receive a late offer, but need aftercare.[/quote]
