If BM is your in bound school, I’d go there. Lots of native speakers, strong community, and I think DCPS dual language schools have a lot going for them.
Strongly disagree with this.
+1 you can always go back to BM if you don’t like MV8.
Probably not till K Are you Spanish dominant?
We're the family with twins who just got into MV8 and are deciding between MV8 and Bruce Monroe for PK3. We are not IB for BM -- we did the lottery for our kids, who are Spanish dominant -- we are inbound for LaSalle-Backus Elementary school which feeds into New North Middle School. We don't want to send our kids to either of those schools, primarily because we are heavily invested in bilingual education. Assuming our kids stay at BM, would our kids still get into MacFarland even though we're not IB for Mac Farland?
This is critical to your decision, and I wouldn't rely on an answer here (unless it provided a citation). I would call the school to ask. My understanding, which could be wrong, is that OOB feeder rights end when you get the terminal grade of a school (meaning you would not have feeder rights to MacFarland), but it could be different for language programs.
I think the answer is at the top of page 3 of this document and that you would have the right to attend MacFardland: https://dcps.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dcps/publication/attachments/SY1920-School-Feeder-Patterns-July-2019_0.pdf But I'd call BM to confirm that.
