Yep, totally agree with your post like the silent majority does. This issue is what’s going to give Trump the next election. Most Americans value what they have to much to just throw it away.
Yup! And the Ds are so out of touch that they don't realize this. What they are bacsically saying is "vote for me because I will give benefits to people who break into our country illegally." Sorry, not a winning campaign message.
It actually is a winning campaign message in some parts of the country! In Montgomery County, the AOC rally was well-attended and local politicians tout how MoCo is a Sanctuary County. Montgomery county is solid blue and voters will support candidates who support illegal immigration. Look at CA. They passed a law to offer taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal immigrants.
I lived in Mo Co for over 50 years (born and raised there). So I've seen changes. The wealthy areas remain "untouched" for now. Bethesda is thriving with its elite businesses and Rockville is a hub for after-work activities and daily shopping. Chevy Chase and Potomac are wealthy suburban pockets that attract the Maryland "elite." doubtful people in these areas are rallying around AOC and local politicians who support protections for illegal immigrants Takoma Park and parts of Silver Spring, however, are welcoming and people will attend rallies, support legislation, and place signs in their yards expressing "love over hate." I sound so stereotypical, but those are the two worlds in Mo Co. Sure, you have a moderate middle, but they're shrinking. According to this article (https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/government/county-beefs-up-immigration-resources-in-response-to-federal-deportation-plan/), there are about 275,000 undocumented immigrants in Mo Co, which has a population of over 1m. Undocumented immigrants, therefore, make up about 1/4 of the population. People move around the county; they move out of the county. But all in all, people move to find "their tribe." I imagine that this population will grow given Mo Co's sanctuary status. MCPS is studying boundaries. not sure how that will work out - But at this point, many people in wealthy areas are upset over the thought of rezoning, fearing their property values will decrease. so . . . If Mo Co is blue, maybe we need to examine a wealthy Democrat's beliefs. just sayin'
