Honestly, why do you care so much? You don't like ML, fine, there are plenty of other clubs your kid can join and have a perfectly enjoyable lacrosse experience.
By playing for MadLax you are essentially condoning this type of behavior and teaching your kids it's okay to act this way. Is saying your kid plays D1 lacrosse more important than them becoming good people?
As a mom to boys who are raising children in a VERY different climate than it was in 1990 for boys, no way in HELL would I let my boys plan for that franchise. I don't want to reinforce bad behavior that is now considered culturally inappropriate. it would do my kids no favors whatsoever. White parents should have better common sense. White boys are no longer allowed to act whichever way they want and get a free white pass. Plus my kid has much more going for him than athletic talent. We don't have to hope and pray for a spot on a college lacrosse team for his ticket to higher education. I suppose if your boy is as dumb as rocks, you gotta do what you gotta do.
While at first I felt this post does not deserve a response, I thought that it might be beneficial for some to become more educated on an often misinformed stereotype about the sport of lacrosse. Madlax did not exist as far as I know in 1990 and I think the many local lacrosse moms such as the PP are new to the sport and the history. Those such as the previous poster who seem to want to cast a biased racial net over the sport may not have been aware of the history and current state of lacrosse. This is the only sport that was created by indigenous north Americans and has a very spiritual history. The Creator's game was medicine and an early form of mental therapy. Football, basketball, and especially baseball, all have very well documented examples of racist policies and worked hard to discriminate access to entry. Some of the greatest athletes in each of these sports had to overcome these barriers. I know of now such examples of lacrosse players in the early days. Locally, Howard and Hampton university both have division one lacrosse teams. One of the great lacrosse documentaries chronicles the Morgan State lacrosse team. The sport has worked very hard to grow the game internationally and the teams from Israel, Uganda, Japan, China, and Jamaica are always crows favorites and the FIL tournament. It is now a provisional olympic sport (but 7v7 and I am not crazy about the format) Currently several POC lacrosse stars are featured athletes in the PLL and the face of the league. Jim Brown is considered the face of the history of the sport. The only real act of cultural insensitivity one will find on google is the 2010 FIL world cup where the Iroquois national team was denied the right to use native passports and did not attend. This was during the Clinton state department. I am not naive and do realize that many consider the sport a privileged mostly white sport due to the success in private HS teams but I do not feel this is accurate and there is more to the story. I do not like to follow the masses because they often forget to take the M with them.
