It was not in his possession, it was in the basement of his house. To use your analogy, it’s more like finding men’s boxers in the laundry and assuming she’s cheating, not assuming they’re my sons.

A) only the two of them are in the house. How did backpacks full of stuff get in the basement if neither he nor OP put it there?

B) some teen girls are forgetful, but multiple backpacks of stuff?

You’re putting stuff in that’s not there. 
OP says sone of the stuff is stuff she “thought” she tossed out and the daughters “thought” they tossed out.

She said there were 5 pairs of pink sunglasses, and her daughters don’t like pink. Maybe a couple of things were theirs but it sounds like most were not. It is a huge red flag for me and super creepy.[/quote]
