FWIW, schools in West Fairfax have had this and worse, for years.  Doesn't excuse it, but it is a fact.  And, they also have a lot more enrollment, too.
Check out the numbers at Oakton, Chantilly, and Westfield.[/quote]

Oakton is getting a major expansion to over 2600 and Westfield is under capacity.

Chantilly’s situation is more like McLean’s:  significant overcrowding and no solution in sight (short of a new HS in western Fairfax at some point, in Chantilly’s  case).

I wouldn’t object if Chantilly was three miles away from another high school at 80% capacity, and the School Board decided to go ahead and even out the enrollments at the two schools.  The alternative is a county-wide redistricting and, while that might’ve sound appealing, there hasn’t been one for over 30 years and the School Board doesn’t really seem to have the appetite to take that on.
