Brent's "crowding" is basically the 1st and K bubble classes.  There aren't as many little kids coming up the chain as there were just several years ago.  Fewer in-boundary families are putting in for ECE each year now - the red hot Hill SE real estate market is simply pricing many young families out of the tiny Brent District.  There's not a lot of inventory for 3-bedroom houses in the catchment area, or even 2 bedrooms, even if you can afford 900K+.

Brent could certainly use a remodel, like most DCPS schools, but the situation is hardly desperate.  Nice big colored windows put in last summer have helped, along with an elevator.[/quote]

No, Brent is crowded as the two trailers on the playground prove. The school makes it work somehow but you can remove the quotes around crowding.[/quote]

Few families are rejecting Brent because of crowding.  The minor crowding is a unmistake sign of success.

I remember Brent when the student body was half as large because the IB population was small.... just a little over a decade ago.

Pick your poison on the Hill for elementary, PPs.  Peabody really needs to be modernized.  Maury's been out of its building for 18 months. SWS has become super difficult to crack. Brent's a little crowded. Ludlow is still only around 1/3 IB and UMC in the upper grades. Watkins' bleeding heart principal needs to go. [/quote]
