Agree.  We've lived in McLean a quarter decade and sent kids through Langley.  It's a terrific nationally-recognized school.  There have always been all sorts of kids that go through it - my kids weren't into drugs, but others were, etc.  It's a fine institution and all colleges know how demanding it is and how many advanced AP course offerings there are. So you think OP does not live in the Langley pyramid?  From what I’ve seen on DCUM, it is usually Langley pyramid parents who start these threads, either complaining about LHS or fishing for information.  Remember Bullis Mom, who pulled her daughter out of Langley after 9th grade and then bashed the school for at least 4-5 more years?

I think there’s something about the dynamics there that leads to this. When you pay for the “very bestest,” you’re more likely to get upset or have second thoughts when you learn that Langley has some of the same issues as other schools or perhaps even its own issues.  Note that I am not suggesting it’s not a fine school, only that the parents there may be more inclined than those at other schools to dissect any imperfections there.

DP here.  The only parent I can remember who actually had kids at Langley (albeit only for a very brief time) and who obsessively bashed the school was Bullis Mom.  But then, she was her own particular brand of crazy and clearly had it out for the administration there.  She had problems that were uniquely her own.  All of the other "bashers" are parents whose kids attend other schools.  IOW, they know nothing about Langley and choose to believe (and start) nasty rumors on anonymous websites.  When people do that, it's pretty clear there's a bad case of resentment going on.  [/quote]
