First, there is more of a focus on grades than scores; and second, while the bar to entry isn't terribly high, the classes and grading are notoriously tough. I think it lets kids test their mettle. A bit of a sink or swim mentality but that's OK. You may disagree but UBC, McGill and the University of Toronto are top notch schools.
