My sister was being cheated on and I posted as her. I needed ideas for certain problems for which she was asking advice. I knew if I posted as myself, I'd get a bunch of MYOBs. Posting as her (in more than a couple situations) I was able to give her solid advice on how to proceed. I posted as my daughter with a career issue. I knew there was no way she'd come to my "mommy board" for help, so posting it myself, getting a bunch of great advice, then forwarding her the link to use or not to use was priceless. I'll occasionally post as a DP on my own OPs just to clarify my position without being accused of "changing the story". Frankly, while there are a multitude of helpful people here, there are more people who project, assume they know the intimate details and motivation, or are just plain a-holes. There are plenty of reasons for posting as someone else that don't make you a troll.
You should have clarified that you are not the OP of this thread (the troll). I don't agree with your justifications for adopting fake identities. Why would you expect honest advice when you are not honest yourself? The fact that so many posters are faking things -- and even justifying it -- leads to more suspicion and more troll callers. That just makes the forum less useful for everyone. If you can't handle an anonymous poster telling you to MYOB, I'm not sure how you manage to use this forum at all. If such posts are really so difficult for you, just report them.
I respect your opinion, but disagree. Too many threads become derailed on insignificant matters just because people want to be witty, or snarky or plain hateful. I agree it might be skewing the results or directing where the answers go, but in some cases that doesn't matter as much as just getting some fresh ideas.
I am doubtful that your truthful threads get derailed but your fake threads -- in which you probably have inconsistencies and obvious discrepancies -- stay completely on topic. Please don't post fake threads. If your thread gets derailed, use the "report" button. The most common reason for threads to be derailed is the constant "I call troll" posts. You are actually creating a justification for such posts.
