PP here. I'm between Loudoun and Fairfax county. There are excellent trails on both sides, but they don't connect. We've been asking FFX to connect us to the W&OD for years, but they won't because it doesn't benefit their residents. And Loudoun isn't going to build us sidewalks in a different county.

That's terrible - you are somewhere in Sterling I guess? Need to cross Herndon Parkway?

For advocacy, I suggest contacting Washington Area Bike Association (WABA).  Unlike Fairfax Alliance for Better Biking (FABB) they are multijurisdictional. Though they don't know the outer suburbs at all well, so don't get your hopes up.

For route advice try the Washington Area Bike Forum.   If anyone can find a comfortable route for you, they can.  [/quote]
