Oh boo hoo hoo!  She hedged her bets! Good for her.  The schools pay people to look at the applications, so its not a big deal if a miniscule amount of their time got wasted.  Schools looks at thousands of applicants and choose just a fraction of them, so why should this student not hedge her bets?  Besides, a high achieving URM student is something every school wants and so if she is a hot commodity then why should she not rise her market value?  Do you blame Harvard for wasting the money and time of thousands of students for a few seats?  No?  Then how is she different if she did the same thing back to the colleges?
