Busing from Northwood to Woodward seems like a pretty terrible idea. Isn't that like 40+ minute commute each way in traffic for kids? That's half-way across the county.
Google Maps says 16-24 in the morning and 18-35 in the afternoon.
This is the transportation analysis presented at last week's meeting https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/schools/northwoodhs/homepage/Northwood%20Holding%20Facilities.pdf
I am confused about the Route Analysis. 1. According to slide 7, there are 17 bus routes. But the analysis in page 12 has 16 routes analyzed for each potential holding center location. 2. Why is Northwood included in page 12? And how can existing bus routes to Northwood arrive later than bell time (11 within 20 minutes, and 2 later than 20 minutes) ? (I assume page 12 is analyzing arrival time at the potential holding center location if there is no change in the schedule of the routes except for the final destination.) Obviously, I am completely missing something. Can someone explain? Thanks!
It was a little hard to follow at the meeting too. The head of transportation was saying how the computer simulator sometimes predicts a bus taking longer than it actually does. I'm not sure about the 17 vs. 16 routes. His main point seemed to be that none of the sites were particularly better or worse overall from a transportation perspective, but that some students could have much longer or shorter rides depending on which site was chosen.
