The fact of the matter is that JLES has an active PTA who cares about the community. It's natural to get friends together when forming a committee because it makes a volunteer position more enjoyable. There are plenty of other schools that struggle to get an involved PTA for simple things like Teacher Appreciation, nevermind do something such as ensuring children have meals during school break or providing transportation to events outside of regular school hours. It's a bit of a stretch to try and pull a race card when, as the pp stated there are minorities serving on the board and receiving volunteer of the year awards. The board changes every couple of years. Bottom line is that Jones Lane is a decent school with parents who care (including you) so step up instead of bringing others down in a community that you're raising your children.[/quote]
