I did electrolysis in my 20s. It was expensive and painful and seems to have made no difference. Has the treatment changed? Anyone have specific recommendations in Maryland for a South Asian threader. My DD and I could both use it!
This is not in Maryland, but maybe you could get to one of the DC locations? We are South Asian, the owner is South Asian, and we have had good luck at the Dupont Circle location.
Sorry, forgot the link... http://www.dupontthreading.com
Thank you! Do you find that it lessens a lot over time, or do you keep having to go year after year? And can I also ask how often you go (we are South Asian also).
I do think it lessens a bit over time, but we still have to go regularly. I'd say about once a month or so. We've only been going for about a year, so I can't say yet about the long term. One thing about threading or any hair removal if you're South Asian, as I'm sure you well know, is that there can be some facial hair lower on the forehead than Caucasians typically have, and/or on the sides of the face. So then rather than just doing mustache and brow areas, they may do "whole face" threading so there's not a weird line where the hair has been removed around brows and mustache, with fuzz remaining. You can also do waxing depending on the situation. But honestly it helps having it done by pros who have the same hair issues themselves, and know how to work with this situation. But hey, our consolation is beautiful thick hair on the head! :-)
Yes, this has been my problem in the past with hair removal, particularly waxing. Along with the damage to my skin, there was such a clear line of demarcation between waxed an unwaxed areas that it was a worse overall result. I've been cutting the hair over my lips with a nail scissors for decades, but would love a better solution and would love less hair on my chin. Thanks again for the advice. Hallelujah for the hair on the head! :)
