What the OP is describing OTOH is awful - really, really obnoxious and tacky as hell.  There is a clear difference.  You don't tell people every singe school your kid gets an offer from (just like you wouldn't mention every school that rejects or WLs him).  And you never ever mention financial or scholarship offers (money).  Gross.

My kids are still in high school but I will definitely put a post on Instagram (I abandoned Facebook long ago) with where my first is going to college when he hits that milestone.  I know my friends will be thrilled for him.[/quote]
