No, it really doesn't.

Larlo Smith only knows the bride/groom because of John Doe. Even if the bride and Larlo developed a friendship, it was built on the foundation of the bride/groom's friendship with John Doe.

John Doe is now probably bringing Jane Taylor  to the wedding of his longtime friends. Larlo now needs to do the mature thing and send a small gift or a card and gracefully step out of the picture.[/quote]

John Doe cannot legit bring Jane Taylor instead of Larlo Smith. If it was John Doe plus guest, that's fine. OP (who is Larlo Smith in this scenario) can bow out if she wants to, but her ex does not get to sub in a new +1 if someone else has been invited and named on the invitation.[/quote]

The +1 has already been factored into the headcount and paid for. Wedding is end of this month, numbers aren't changing. They don't give a shit if the plus one they paid for is Jane or Larla. Come on. What are they going to do, insist he brings his ex since she was the original plus one? [/quote]
