The house blessing/saging is a form of exorcism.

The article has nothing to do with house blessings.  And please note that the Atlantic will publish anything sensational.  If you had bothered to read the piece you would know that notwithstanding the claim of two priests that the number of REQUESTS had gone up, the number of actual exorcisms has not risen sharply.  If the author of the piece had done homework they would know that the Catholic Church TIGHTLY controls exorcism.  The article does admit there were only 10-15 trained Roman CAtholic exorcists in the entire country a few years ago.  Now maybe 100 for the entire US.
