np- This!  I hate when people get angel tree type tags and then do the equivalent of mansplaining why the child needs something different, despite not knowing the child.  What would that be called?  "Richsplaining"?  Like, the girl wears size 9.  Get her size 9.  You don't know her shoe size better than her own mother.  I remember last year on FB (not DCUM) someone asked for advice about a semi violent video game that a 12 year old asked for on one of those tags.  The game was rated 12 and up or something, and the kid was 12, and the person was wringing her hands about if it was "appropriate" to get this kid a violent game "when he might not have much home supervision or good role model to explain that violence is bad".  She wanted to get him a racing game instead.  How condescending can you be?  Don't get me started on the person who chimed in n FB to say she wasn't getting her charity child a skateboard that was asked for because she felt the child needed a helmet with it, and a helmet wasn't requested and she didn't want to guess on the helmet size, so she decided the child should get a different gift. Like, just don't participate if you can't do it correctly. [/quote]
