My husband’s cousin died this way last year after fighting the flu for a week. He didn’t realize he had pneumonia too and, by the time he thought something else was wrong and went to the hospital, it was too late. He was septic due to the pneumonia and was in the ICU for 3 days before dying of cardiac arrest. He was 50, had an 18 year old, a 9 year old, a 7 year old and twins who were only 2.
