It's super tiny, like the Volvo XC40. Going to be empty nesters in June, so don't need a big SUV anymore.
Why would you need an SUV in the first place? going offroadin'? A sedan does the same job. Plus SUV kills more people every year. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/05/14/611116451/fatal-pedestrian-crashes-increasingly-involve-suvs-study-finds
Better storage. Some of us DIY our houses and you cannot get anything into a car trunk. It does not do the same job.
That's why you have wagons.....although everyone's lust for SUVs has caused manufacturers to ditch most of their wagon offerings.
Because wagons are hideous.
You do realize that an SUV in many cases are just a wagons which have been raised an inch, added some cladding to it and voila...its an SUV (and not a wagon). A raised price tag also as you're paying for more metal without getting any extra interior room or benefits (not always but e.g. VW Sportwagen and VW All-Track is the same car. Same with Subaru Outback and Subaru Legacy Wagon......latter which is not sold in the US). Kinda like telling yourself that Superman is a much nicer person than Clark Kent. ;-)
We test drove a wagon and our SUV. The wagon had considerably less trunk space due to the hatchback and more blind spots trying to see out the back.
