I disagree.  Cardigans tend to be frumpy.  You have to try very hard for them not to be.   It’s the kind of style (sleeveless dresss and cardigan) that’s very popular for 20 somethings.  As you get older it simply isn’t a good luck.

OP look for dressss with sleeves.  Cheaper retailers like jcrew make so many sleeveless dresses because it’s cheaper.  Look for dresses at ReiSs, Theiry, Karen Miller, etc.

Ok, fashion diva.  Show me the dresses you think I should be wearing as partner in a law firm.  I wear Theory and Karen Millen, but the vast majority of them are sleeveless or shortsleeve, including their fall/winter lines.  I personally think long-sleeved dresses are not very professional looking, particularly the ones they are showing now with the fuller and flared sleeves.

OP, Nic & Zoe has some cute more structured cardigans and sweater material blazers that work well.  Would welcome other suggestions from PP who clearly does not work in a professional office. [/quote]

In the winter, women want their entire arm covered. Short sleeves still require a layer over top.
