$12k per kid, per year until recently when we cut it back for the oldest because we are on track to exceed our goal.
NP here. I'm curious what that goal is, do you mind sharing? We do 8k a year and have 88k for our 8 year old. Likely umping up to 12k this year.
We have two kids, 8 & 11, and our goal is to fund 4 years of college (public or private) for each. I don’t want to oversave in the 529 accounts due to their limitations so we plan on having the equivalent of 4 years of private and 4 years of public in the 529 accounts. Anything needed above that will be funded through our after tax investment accounts or through cash flow. We currently have a total of $272k. Based on the T Rowe calculator we are overfunding the accounts by about $500 per month so we just redirected that amount to our investment accounts.
