[/quote] My memory was that at least one of the gospels said that there was some pressure to get the bodies down before the Passover sabbath started, so they hurried death along by stabbing him in the gut. And hence Catholic tradition holding that Jesus died at about 3:30 on Friday (time enough to get him down before sunset). [/quote]
