This is my 25th year teaching in an elementary school. I have never spent more than $100 and rarely do I spend more than [b]what my PTA will reimburse[/b], which is currently $80. I have a difficult time understanding why some spend so much of their own money. It seems to me that just enables the district to not make the purchases.[/quote]

Not all schools have PTAs. My school doesn't have one and this year we aren't getting any BOY supplies. So if students don't bring in supplies (I normally only get supplies from 70% of the class), we have to buy them or do a Donors Choose. Every few years, we get random donations. Two years ago, we got a ton of masking tape? A few years before that, we got a ton of lined paper except it was college rule which doesn't work well with little kids. Not everyone has what you have PP.[/quote]
