good riddance to all those parents who want to buy into that philosophy for their U10 girls.
The club at that age group may have a mission statement that talks about development and positive environment but it is not close to living that mission statement. Think it was about 10-12 girls leaving to form a new team. There were only three teams in the age group. So roughly about a 1/3 maybe more of the age group left. In addition, I think there were one or two girl who left during the season and a few more who just moved on to new clubs after the season. Majority left to form a new team because the girls were done with the BSC. From what I heard many had only experience one or two coaches at BSC. When they trained with a new coach outside of the club, the girls where done with BSC. It was not the parents leading the charge but the girls telling their parents they were done with BSC.
We have never been with Bethesda. I live in VA. But, this is a problem everywhere and we've been throughout at two big Clubs close-in. The product has gotten too big and too impersonal all over the DMV. I really think we are a turning point. Parents are started to see the big $ racket it is with very little in return. It's getting harder to get parents to buy into all the promises and false crap Clubs around the area spew at tryout time and then never follow through. The soccer parent base is more educated as more parents have played travel, HS and some college as well. They know when they are being told sh*t. The more teams a Club gets the very worse it gets. I know so many that are ready to walk all over the area. There isn't a chance for anyone to do something different because of the monopoly held be the big Clubs, fields occupied and the Leagues that make it impossible for anyone trying to do something different or strike out on their own.
